School Districts and Home Values: What You Need to Know

Many homebuyers know school districts can directly impact a home’s value. The size, layout, age and amenities of a home are important, too, but parents like to make sure the local school districts are good ones, and this is an important factor when it comes to making a buying decision.

Woodstock GA schools

Neighborhoods with good schools attract families with school-age children, but just how much do those schools affect a home’s value?

Survey Says

A recent survey of 1,000 buyers showed that nearly 91% of those buyers were looking for a home in a good school district.

Prospective buyers say they are willing to sacrifice things like home size and amenities in order to live in the right school district. Some buyers are even willing to go as far as 10% above their budget for a home in the right school district.

Consumer Demand and Housing Prices

There is always a strong consumer demand for homes near good schools. Demand drives prices higher, especially when it comes to real estate, where the homes in any given area are limited.

When looking for a home, it’s important to take into consideration what you are looking for, especially when it comes to location. It is always a good idea to look at the school district a home is in, even if you don’t have children. Good schools are good for their community; they provide stability and increase property values, which helps everyone. Taking a look at the schools nearby is always important when home shopping.

If you are shopping for a home in the area, keep in mind Downtown Woodstock, Towne Lake, Woodstock and Cherokee County all have excellent public school systems.
